An Epic Empire Avenue Battle of Wits and Twits

by THE INFLUENCIER on September 25, 2010 •  7 comments

The Dragon's Tournament on Empire Avenue. It's Hot!Today, the Dragon’s Tournament, an epic battle of wits and twits, er, I mean tweets, has been raging amongst members of The Dragon’s Cave — the hottest personal community on Empire Avenue. The Flaming Dragon (e)SLEEP, current share price leader and Queen of Da Cave, is holding the contest in order to find a knight worthy of serving by her side as King of Da Cave. Earlier this evening, the final feat of bravery, wit and cunning was announced by (e)SLEEP and is now underway.

Competitors and spectators have gathered from across the globe to witness and participate in the challenge, including Jordan Hodges (e)JORDNH, Jitesh Panchal (e)UNS33N, Olivier Lussier (e)OL, Gina Montana (e)21GUNS, Bill Sellers (e)BILL, Darcy Kiernan (e)SCUBA, Olivier Gagnon (e)GAGNON, Allie Wojtaszek (e)ALLIE, Lyne Robichaud (e)PAPIER, Adriel Hampton (e)ADRIEL and the evil Kyle Giesbrecht (e)DOOD.

Like a wandering minstrel of yore, THE INFLUENCIER now offers a musical tribute to the valiant participants in this noble quest.

“Surely, you must be joking?”
“I never joke, and don’t call me Shirley!”

Ted Striker (Robert Hays) and Dr. Rumack (Leslie Nielsen) in the 1939 Oscar-winning  epic tale of love, romance, red things and things that hold back water in the Old South during the Civil War and Reconstruction, “Gone with the Wind.”

Nearly a century ago, when I first started this blog (or as erudite playwright and day-old coleslaw connoisseur, Luke Nyland, would put it “locationally bereft conglomerate of thematically destituted amalgamates”), I had one thing in mind — French Fries. Golden, crispy, pipin’ hot french fries. And deep fried Twinkies with a raspberry drizzle. Okay, you caught me. Two things.

I also held the desire to use this platform for the greater good. That of the Empire Avenue Community, and that of the world at large. It is my firm belief that You, personally, can be the catalyst for positive, limitless, earth-shattering change. I planned to use this intangible corner of ether to provide helpful hints to successfully navigate the highways and byways Empire Avenue as well as to spark a desire amongst others to use our combined influence and creativity to impact the world around us in lasting, positive ways.

by THE INFLUENCIER on July 31, 2010 •  7 comments

Empire Avenue Limited Edition 17,500th Share of WRITERTHE 17,500th Share of Brent Knowles (e)WRITER has been added to THE VAULT. The story of how THE INFLUENCIER acquired this exquisite limited edition share is quite the yarn, filled with drama & intrigue, heroes & villains, and action & adventure at every turn. It is a tale that begs the telling…

Chapter I:

IT WAS the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the season of Light, it was the season of (e)DARKness, it was the (e)SPRING of hope, it was the winter of despair, with the advent of DUBLIN we had everything before us, and with the rumors of ERINDALE, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way. ‘Twas the Night Before Launch

by THE INFLUENCIER on July 28, 2010 •  6 comments

‘Twas the night before launch day and all through the town,
Traders were trading, some  up and some down.

The Makers that Market were digitally tallying,
While Aaron K. White was digitally dallying,

The Follows had stopped and Lists were now served,
Cork had been popped,  and graphs were now curved.

It was all pretty quiet, except for the tweets,
from twitter and tweetdeck and even hootsuite:

(e)RZR with humor, a video he posts,
And (e)ZOD with his Army, oh my how he boasts.

And then (e)ADRIEL shouts and sounds the alarm
Gently at first with Open Gov charm,

“(e)MILLAN has new shares, all stuck in a row,
She’s waiting for buyers, I thought you should know.”

Then (e)POOKA the Analyst, she joins the Fray.
Shouting ,”(e)MILLAN is on sale! Yippee Ka Yay!”

And just as I click the button to buy,
Something jumps out and catches my eye.

Could it be? Yes! A blog post from Dups!
Explaining some stuff to rally the troops.

“Newbies and Greenhorns, Come One and Come All!
See the new trophies, eight sparklies in all! ”

“Was Dublin still coming?” I wondered aloud,
“Or already here,  just in time for the crowd?”

I say to The Tom and Robert , Brad too,
“Kudos to you, and the rest of your crew!”

Wondering what else there could be in store,
I started to tweet asking Dups for some  more.

But then in a flash, Dups vanished from sight.
Tweeting, “Happy Trading to All and to All a Good Night!”

The Darker Side of Empire Avenue “The streets of Empire Avenue are paved in gold,” they say. “It’s just a game. Try it, you’ll like it,” they say, delicately prodding you with their satiny smooth, velvety voices. “Go on, pick a ticker, it’ll be fun,” they say, gently persuading, smelling like a mix between warm […]
